Proven Platforms for Individual Sensor Software
EBE develops and tests software, firmware and algorithms for customer-specific sensors in its own laboratory. Within the framework of the OEM-services the sensor software develops application-specific and for the individual project. In this way EBE guarantees that function, programming, quality and price perfectly match the planned product.
At first the software development for sensors resorts to the three proprietary technology platforms capaTEC®, induTEC® and corTEC® back. Proven solutions to control the drive technology are also available. On this basis EBE programs according to the requirements of the OEM-customers. The flexible architecture of the platforms allows for quick and individual adaptations. Specific requirements with respect to interfaces, connectors and additional functionalities of the sensor software can be integrated.
It is essential for sensor applications to adapt algorithms and parameters to the ambient conditions. This is why EBE performs extensive measurements for each OEM-project. Comprehensive software packages record and evaluate data and optimize parameters. EBE works in modern software environments like Matlab and uses a tool suite developed in-house. The programs used can record data over longer periods of time and represent and process large data volumes.
Algorithms can first be implemented in a script-based way before they are checked offline on the basis of the recorded data. Parameters and threshold values can be optimized under different aspects by means of a software tool developed by EBE.
All EBE sensors feature a diagnostic interface for the PC-based recording of measurement data. Furthermore, data of additional measurement devices and laboratory equipment can be stored synchronously. These include multimeters, data loggers and climatic chambers. In defined workflows test benches can be controlled by nominal values.
In this way the influences to be expected are determined, analyzed and integrated into the software design for the sensors. Typical ambient conditions are heat, humidity, strong movements or severe interferences.
How the Refrigerator Recognizes Gestures
The sensor technology and mechanics of modern appliances is one of the main focuses of the OEM-development of EBE. To give an example, it is possible to design refrigerator openers which recognize and distinguish gestures. With the proper gesture the door springs open. An invisible intelligent sensor in the door opening module makes this user action possible.
The sensor software does not only gain its knowledge of gestures by programming based on test bench data. In addition, EBE records the behavior of many test persons. On this basis it is possible to define a robust algorithm which can clearly interpret gestures. Measurement workflows lead the test persons in a simple and intuitive way through defined test scenarios.
