Extra Compact and Extra Robust – The Rotary Encoder ESC17 Mini

14. November 2022

For small spatial conditions and installation spaces EBE sensors + motion offers the extremely handy and robust rotary encoder ESC17 mini.

The small-format and strikingly compact encoder ESC17 mini is based on the Hall principle. If required, the rotary encoder can also be executed by an integrated pushbutton function. Due to the magnetic detection of the rotary movement and button signals the ESC17 mini is almost wear-free. The ball latch used with 16 locking positions provides pleasant haptic feedback and has been proven in a great number and variety of projects. Depending on the latching force a service life of several 100,000 revolutions can be realized for the ESC17 mini. The protection from electrostatic discharges in installed condition is realized by a massive pin to the grounding.

Robust Design with Compact Setup

With its dimensions of (L x W) 17 x 19 mm and an installation height of 11 mm below the front plate the rotary encoder is significantly more compact than comparable products on the market. In addition, the ESC17 mini convinces by its high robustness. The application of the rotary encoder is particularly appreciated with compact, mobile devices such as defibrillators, tachymeters or theodolites. Due to its water and dust proofness against the front plate, it is also suitable for use under extreme ambient conditions, e.g. in municipal vehicles, in forestry and agriculture, in construction machines or their handheld terminals.

Individual Adaptations for Individual Requirements

Based on its smart modular system EBE sensors + motion offers countless adaptations for its rotary encoders. This allows for freedoms not available with standard products, covering applications for very special uses in a wide range of areas. Developers always face the challenge to design optimum products for their users. With the large number of possible adaptations, quality and a long lifetime are paramount to allow the end user to profit from the individually designed solutions for a long time.
