Capacitive capaTEC® multi-channel sensors for the human-machine interface from EBE are robust and specifically developed all-rounders for rough applications in industrial environments, machine interfaces, appliances and user interfaces in medical and commercial vehicle applications.
Wherever robust and reliable actuation in spite of the influence and contamination of the user interface by:
- dust
- water
- steam
- oil
- grease
- acid
is required the small EBE all-rounders are at home.
The influence of temporary or permanent coatings on the user interface can be deducted or compensated by a multi-dimensional measurement of the touch, e.g. by a human finger or glove.
The individual adaptation options allow for maximum performance and dynamics to achieve a safe and reliable operation.
This primarily includes the distinction between a targeted and an accidental actuation.
Based on algorithms proven and optimized for many years the capacitive sensors can be individually adapted to a great variety of material thicknesses of the non-conductive user interfaces, such as:
- real glass
- acrylic
- wood
- plastics
- etc. ...
reaching a maximum dynamic range.
In this way, buttons or slide controls can be realized on the same circuit board while everything is supplied and calculated by one µ-controller.
Depending on the requirement the electrodes may have a planar or, by means of a flexible circuit board, e.g. for a concave or a convex design.
Thanks to the on-board µ-controller each digital or analog interface can be easily generated and realized in a cost-effective and individual way.
Thus, it is possible to do without individual and expensive interface modules.
Likewise, the control panels can be easily adapted to an existing infrastructure and interface world.
In this way, complex re-designs of existing machine interfaces and interfaces of central electronics boards are not required.
This saves development time and costs as well as extensive re-designs.
For this purpose, the size and shape of the switches resp. slide controls are adapted to individual circumstances resp. control masks.
If required, EBE develops and supplies an individual housing for the sensor electronics.
If an environment suitable for electronics is already present or not required the housing can be dropped so that the whole solution consists of just a circuit board which the customer installs into the existing assembly.
The development is made according to application-specific requirements. The concept and sensor principle are based on the capaTEC® technology developed by EBE.
