Intelligent Inductive Measurement of Position and Path -
a Cost-Effective Solution
Individually developed position sensors from EBE sensors + motion measure the specified values in a wide range of applications. The intelligent and inductive sensors are particularly suitable for areas subjected to extreme ambient conditions.
EBE position sensors offer a robust and cost-effective method of path measurement. Especially in rough environments it is essential to determine reliable path or angle positions . These include commercial vehicles, industrial plants or sorting machines.
The development of position sensors is according to the application-specific requirements of the customer. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
The function of the position sensors is based on the induTEC® technology developed by EBE. It forms the basis of our product development.
The inductive measurement principle: Position and displacement of a metallic or permeable target are recorded by a coil structure.
Differential coil structures compensate temperature and aging influences as well as the dispersion of components.
The position sensor can be designed cost-efficiently by realizing the coils as PCB-inductivities. Minimum space requirements are needed for its integration. Sensitivity and tolerances are sufficient for many applications. The costs for the winding and contacting of external coils are avoided.
Wound sensor coils can be used in more complex and particularly demanding applications. They allow to create a magnetic measuring field which offers additional degrees of freedom. EBE manufactures the coils according to professional standards on winding and grouting machines.
Application Example: Identification of Packagings
Similar to the recognition of a bar code by red or infrared light metallic structures can be recognized inductively.
The EBE-system for the identification of packagings offers an intelligent application based on the induTEC® technology.
A coil system recognizes the metallic structures embedded in a packaging and sends a reading Packaging and reading unit need not touch. An optical connection is not required either.
The metallic structures can be printed onto the packaging. Likewise it is possible to hide them under varnishing resp. coating. In this way the originally planned design of the packaging remains untouched including pictures, graphics, advertisement and product information.
One variant is the arrangement of the coding structure in concentric form. It is particularly suitable for round packagings. The packagings are then recognized independent of their orientation and positioning to the reading device. Depending on the number of conditions to be coded and the area available a kind of QR-code structure resp. matrix can be used.
