Safe Locking and Comfort Functions in a Single Module
Sophisticated technology and electronics facilitate the operation of modern dishwashers. Comfortable functions can be integrated into the control panel and the opening module.

The development and technology portfolio allows for the following variants:
- purely passive door lock
- locking system with integrated dryer opening
- mere opening module to be attached to an existing dishwasher lock or to be combined with an existing dishwasher lock to realize a dryer opening
- locking system with dryer opening function plus convenience opening function with integrated sensor system
- exclusive comfort opening module to be attached to an existing dishwasher lock or to be combined with an existing dishwasher lock to realize the comfort opening function
Depending on the locking system there are different ways to place the actuator system with comfort opening systems for dishwashers:
- directly in the locking system
- externally, e.g. as a touch sensor
control via a touch display that might be installed anyway.
Save More Energy with Dry-Opening Modules
Saving energy ranks among the most important goals in the development of modern appliances. After all, they are supposed to meet the requirements of the energy label. EBE sensors + motion also pursues this goal. Dishwashers offer the opportunity to reduce energy consumption by means of dry-opening modules.
The dishwasher door is automatically opened by the appliance electronics after each wash cycle in order to release the remaining humidity resp. steam into the room. In this way, energy for an additional heating of the interior to evaporate resp. condensate and drain the water can be saved.
For this task EBE sensors + motion develops so-called [dry-opening Modules] . They can be directly controlled by the central electronics. The module releases the door which automatically opens a gap and stops at a defined position. In this way the remaining humidity can escape from the machine.
Depending on the variant a matching hinge system for the dishwasher door is required.
Depending on the locking system used a different concept requires that the door is pushed open. By means of a pusher the door is opened by a predefined gap and remains in this position for a certain period of time.
More Comfort for Dishwashers
For partially or fully integrated dishwashers in handleless kitchen design it must also be possible to open the door conveniently. For this purpose EBE develops so-called comfort-opening modules.
The comfort function can be integrated into the door opening module of the appliance door or mounted to the appliance frame. EBE offers modules
- which open existing passive locking systems and are adapted to these
- or which represent a completely independent locking system.
The second solution means that the system includes both the lock and the opening function. This concept can be implemented in two variants:
- without sensor as the dry-opening variant
- with sensor as comfort opening
Level Sensors for Dishwashers
The comfort functions of advanced dishwashers include level sensors. To give an example, the amount of rinse agent in the storage tank in the door or in a dosing unit and the filling level of the special salt shall be measured.

More Elegance with Touch Through Control Panels
The development program also includes solutions for:
- touch through metal control panels
- touch through glass control panels
They are based on the sensor technologies induTEC® and capaTEC®.
In the case of touch through metal control panels the deformation of metal surfaces in relation to a PCB mounted below is measured. This is how the induTEC® sensor detects the key command. In the case of touch through glass control panels the capacitive change which a finger print to the glass surface effects is measured. A PCB under the glass surface contains all the functions, the electronics, the µ-controller and the electrodes of the capaTEC® sensor. The PCB can be designed according to the requirements of the customer.
Touch through control panels are ideally suited for elegant metal resp. glass environments in kitchen and canteen appliances as well as other industrial housings. With this solution reliable and robust switch applications which are resistant to water and dirt can be designed. The housing shape need not be subordinated to the operating function. Housing surfaces can remain completely closed. It is easily possible to finish them by printing, laser engraving or surface etching.
