Precise measurement of conductive and strongly adhesive media in high volume vessels
Is there really still liquid in the tank? Or is it just a thin film adhering to the wall? Level sensors based on corTEC® technology from EBE detect the condition in any case - even with highly conductive and strongly adhesive media.
EBE has a powerful sensor platform for level sensors and fill level switches. Especially in these applications, the integrated spectroscopic evaluation can distinguish whether a tank is actually filled with water or whether the tank wall is just covered by a thin film of water.
However, in the case of well-conductive and strongly adhesive media, this method has its limitations For example, if certain physical effects are located in a frequency range outside the bandwidth of the system. These neighborhood effects make it possible to distinguish a fluid film from a voluminous liquid.
EBE has developed the corTEC® platform especially for this challenge.
With this technology,a high frequency signal stimulates the measuring electrodes and the system evaluates the transmission behavior. The signal frequency is set so high that the parameters necessary to distinguish between liquid volumes and fluidfilms become visible.
Due to the measurement frequencies, users must observe regulatory requirements with regard to electromagnetic emissions. In addition, the system must be protected against interference.
For these reasons, corTEC® combines wideband noise measurement technology with correlation signal processing. By stimulating the electrodes with a wideband noise signal, the emitted power density remains low and is also distributed over a wide frequency range.
In combination with methods from correlation measurement technology, the system can now compensate for interference from external electromagnetic emission sources. Other sources of interference such as temperature drift and aging can also be compensated.
This results in a robust and versatile, but price-sensitive measuring method for level measurement in vessels and systems that work with conductive liquids.
